As a child, much of my world revolved around listening to The Beatles. Their music felt sacred, with every lyric resonating perfectly with my moods and experiences. The release of their Anthology records in the mid-1990s, alongside a captivating documentary, became a transformative moment for me. The stunning art, vintage videos, electrifying concerts, and the conceptual brilliance of albums like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band opened a new world. Their vision inspired me to begin writing (which led to a degree in journalism), sketching, taking photos, and exploring aspects of design that I’d never considered before.
The Beatles were more than musicians—they were visionaries and brand-gurus who evolved consistently while staying authentic and kind.
Unbeknownst to me, this influence was laying the foundation for my career. The Beatles sparked my passion for assembling ideas, much like they pieced together music and imagery, into cohesive and impactful creations.
My early days as a print designer revolved around bringing together bold photography, expressive typography, and harmonious color schemes to create compelling visual stories. In many ways, this process mirrored the multi-layered brilliance of The Beatles' work.
Today, I channel that inspiration as I venture into designing interiors, leading photography and video, environmental branding, or digital media. Whenever I need to re-anchor my creativity, I return to those Beatles songs and the glossy books that document their artistic legacy. They remind me to keep evolving and embracing new ideas while staying true to the essence of storytelling.
The best story I’ve written is my own. I arrived in Chicago from St. Louis at 22, certain I could rewrite my story. Humor would hold me together as I learned many lessons the hardest ways. My husband, Jack and I envisioned building a strong foundation for our family. Our three kids are experiencing life very different from my own childhood. We’re still writing our story, but we try to follow our hearts in work and love and write in the most vibrant colors.
